How Should You Prepare For A Brow Lamination Session?
With so many people giving themselves the gift of a beauty bar pampering session, it is not surprising that the perfect sculpting you get from semi-permanent brow lamination has become especially popular.
Unlike other semi-permanent eyebrow treatments such as tattooing or microblading, brow lamination focuses on perming and setting your existing brow hairs in place to create as full, as sculptured and as shimmering a set of brows as you can get.
Is it right for you? How should you get ready before your first session? And what should you do to maximise the results once you leave the beauty bar?
How Does Brow Lamination Work?
Brow lamination involves three main steps, although other treatments, such as tinting, can be done at around the same time.
The first step is to apply a lifting cream to make the brow hairs more flexible and easier to shape. Then the brows are brushed and covered with a plastic film (hence lamination) whilst the lifting cream works its magic.
Finally, your brows are gently cleaned and a neutraliser is applied. The brows are subsequently covered again, and the solution works to rebuild your brows in their new place.
Is Brow Lamination Right For You?
With immediate effects and long-lasting results, brow lamination has become particularly popular in recent years.
Whilst the effects vary depending on how quickly your eyebrows grow and how much you take care of them, the results do last for a while without requiring the extensive tattooing usually seen with microblading.
It is also perfect for people with thinning brows or gaps that have emerged from other treatments.
How Should You Get Ready For Your Brow Lamination?
Besides doing your research and getting in touch with an aesthetic professional, all you need to do to prepare is to leave your eyebrows and resist the temptation to stick to your usual routine.
This means avoiding makeup, at least around the eyebrows, cleaning your eyebrows to ensure they are free from oil or dust and avoiding waxes, threading or tweezing them to minimise irritation. The more your aesthetic professional has to work with, the better the results.
Try to avoid scheduling other treatments right before, although they will be fine afterwards.
How Do You Take Care Of Your Brows After Lamination?
Exactly how long the results of brow lamination will last can vary depending on your hair growth cycle, but they usually last between a month and six weeks with effective aftercare.
How should you take care of your brows? Avoid steam and water as much as possible for the first two days after treatment so the neutraliser can work and the hairs can properly set. This might mean carrying an umbrella if you have to deal with a typically grim winter’s day.
As with your preparation, avoid using skincare products around the brows for the first 24 hours. Instead, use a serum or conditioner designed for your brows to keep them hydrated and nourished enough, and maintain their shape using a clean spoolie brush to avoid contamination.
